You might think from his stage name that Lil Xan’s life would be tremendously chill.

But as it happens, the rapper and reformed pharmaceutical enthusiast lives quite a tumultuous existence.

Just months ago Xan was dating Noah Cyrus, and it appeared the relationship was getting serious. 

Popping pills, banging D-listers — it looked as thoufgh we had a pretty good idea of what the rest of Young Alprazolam’s career would look like.

But virtually overnight, everything changed.

Xan checked into rehab after he and Cyrus broke up in November.

This was a big deal, as not only was the 22-year-old leaving his hard-partying ways in the past, he was parting ways with the lifestyle that was so integral to his career.

So perhaps it’s no great surprise that when Xan announced that his girlfriend, Annie Smith, is pregnant, some fans became suspicious.

Was this the real deal, or were Xannie and Annie simply looking for a new hook?

The speculation began almost immediately after Xan announced Smith’s pregnancy.

Fans noted the lack of a baby bump, and some even went so far as to claim that Smith had photoshopped the ultrasound image that she posted online.

"I love you guys so much and hope you stay along for this crazy journey and I’ve never felt more happy in my life," Xan said at the time.

Now, Smith is speaking out on the speculation that it’s all for show.

"The fact that it’s basically being ruined or tarnished by the Internet is heartbreaking to me and it’s really, really hard for me to deal with," Annie shared in a recent interview with E! News.

"I’m already very hormonal and sensitive and it’s just a really hard thing to talk about but I just feel like you deserve to hear from me what’s going on because it’s clearly been twisted around."

Annie went on to explain that she’s still not showing because she and Xan decided to make their announcement early — a choice she initially opposed "because I know a lot about miscarriage and all the risks that can happen."

From there, she issued the usual plea for privacy:

"It’s just really personal and I was just so excited when I first found out and of course I’m still so excited but I just really want to keep it private between [Lil Xan] and I god forbid something happened," she shared.

"My worst nightmare is having a miscarriage…I just don’t even come on the Internet anymore."

As for her future plans with Xan, Annie says wedding bells will be ringing in the very near future.

"We again are very unconventional, so what we most likely we will do is get married [in a] super, super intimate wedding. It could be anytime.

"It could be in a week, it could be in a month—it could be anytime and then have a little get together with our family and really close friends a little while after and then possibly have a bigger reception celebration down the road," she explained. 

"But, definitely the main ceremony part we want to keep really intimate, just like us and our parents or even just us and then maybe do something later down the line with family and friends."
